County Fixtures

The Under 16 Boys and girls suffered mixed fortunes this week with the boys scraping home by 2-1 against Herefordshire whilst the girls went down by the same score to West Midlands .

The boys dominated the first half but despite numerous opportunities led by only a single goal at the break. The second half saw a confident Herefordshire much more competitive and they scored a deserved equaliser with 12 minutes to go. This seemed to act as the stimulus the Staffordshire boys needed and they stepped up a gear to score a second decisive goal to take the three points. The boys are at home again on Monday the 11th of February when they entertain West Midlands, which will be a much sterner test of their abilities.

The girls played much of their match against West Midlands with only 10 players as an early injury just added to the woes of a depleted squad through unavailability and injuries. The girls were superb in their attitude and deserved something out of the game but were left with a consolation goal from skipper Katie Johnson.

Next week the Under 18 boys travel to Thomas Telford School to meet Shropshire in a MCF league game on the same night that the Under 16 Boys entertain West Midlands.
