Roadmap out of lockdown - What it means for county football

As of today (22/02/2021), the Prime Minister has announced the stages of the gradual re-opening of the country as our way out of Lockdown 3. The full details can be found here.

Following the return of students on 8th March, the guidance states outdoor organised sports can resume on the 29th March. Therefore, representative schools football will be able to return at the earliest from Monday 29th March. These dates are conditional and will be informed by the continued progress the country is making. We currently await further guidance from The FA and ESFA, and will update parents and players in due course (both here on our website and on our Twitter page @staffsschoolsfa)

We are encouraged by these dates and are currently in the process of re-scheduling our elite friendly programme for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season with 2 key aims:

1) to ensure the safe return to county football for all age groups and get our schoolchildren active again and enjoying their football

2) to support Staffordshire Schools' FA as an organisation following over a year of no income

With the promising news of the roadmap and the incredible progression of the vaccine rollout, we are a step closer to getting back to doing the things we love. Despite the optimism, it remains important as ever to continue to stay at home and stay safe as we slowly return to normality. From everyone involved at SSFA, stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the coming months.
