Staffordshire vs Cheshire Under 16 Boys - Match Report

Staffordshire’s Under 16 boys welcomed Cheshire in an eagerly anticipated friendly on a brisk Monday evening at Stafford Town FC.

Cheshire started the game on the front foot, immediately attacking and placing Staffordshire under real pressure for the first 5 minutes. It took Staffordshire a good while until they had any sort of possession. However, they immediately turned possession intio pressure, with the ball falling to midfielder Dan Hughes who opened the scoring with a sublime volley from the edge of the area.

Staffordshire maintained their foothold in the game, with the intensity of their press putting Cheshire in all sorts of trouble. Staffordshire quickly made another breakthrough with a tidy finish from Dylan Scott. Charlie Dean then bagged the first of his three goals on the evening.

Staffs continued their high intensity by winning the ball deep in the opposition third, cheekily finished with a dink over the keeper from Dylan Scott. Soon after Charlie Dean got his second with a pinpoint finish inside the Cheshire box, making it Staffordshire’s 5th goal before half time.

Manager Lee Sage made 3 substitutions at half time, with these changes maintaining Staffs dominance on the game, as they continued where they left on. Not long into the half  Dan Hughes made it 6-0 with another superb finish. The only blemish of the match came as Staffordshire played the ball out from the back; an unfortunate slip resulted in the ball dropping to the Cheshire striker who placed the ball past the Staffs keeper.

Charlie Dean then completed his hat-trick with a fine finish from the corner of the box, before Jharrell Williams got the final goal of the game with a lovely finish from inside the area. Full-time: Staffordshire 8-1 Cheshire.

Huge thanks goes to everyone at Cheshire for their efforts, and everyone at SSCFA wishes them the best for the upcoming season.
