Under 14 Boys vs West Midlands - Match Report

Manager Neil Davies provided the following match report from the Under 14 boys fixture on Tuesday evening:

West Midlands U14 Boys 3 Staffordshire U14 Boys 2

On Tuesday 2nd November Staffs new Under 14 Boys team took on their counterparts from West Midlands in an entertaining game at Boldmere St Michaels FC.

Unfortunately the result didn’t match up to the performance with Staffs losing out by a single goal. Staffs started brightly but somehow found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes. The boys rallied and got themselves back in the game through Alfie Hancock and then laid siege to the West Midlands goal in search of an equaliser. In truth Half Time came at the wrong time with Staffs very much on top and unfortunately just after the interval conceded another goal when the West Midlands striker tapped in from close range following an error by the Staffs keeper. To their great credit the Staffs boys didn’t give up and continued to press and force the home side back. Staffs striker Clayton Malbon who was joint man of the match with the excellent Dylan Bailey got the goal that he richly deserved to make it 3-2 and for the remaining 15 minutes there was only one team in it as Staffs peppered the West Midlands goal, but despite numerous chances couldn’t find the elusive equalising goal.

If the Staffs boys continue to play the way they did and can cut out unnecessary mistakes they will soon turn good performances into wins.
