SSCFA Alumni Success - Connor Taylor

Everyone at Staffordshire Schools and Colleges FA send their congratulations to former SSCFA player Connor Taylor, who this week picked up the EFL Young Player of the Month award.

Connor represented Staffordshire and England schoolboys over several years, and was signed by Stoke City in 2020. Connor went onto make his debut for the first team in April 2021 against Coventry City, before going out on loan this season to Bristol Rovers. He has flourished as a centre half this season under Manager Joey Barton, and has recieved plaudits from opposition managers, fans and pundits.

Connor was a fantastic role model during his time with Staffordshire. He was released by a category 3 club, picked up by a category 1 club, and managed this alongside County and International Schoolboy football. He is proof that dedication, honesty and commitment pays off and opens doors, and his infectious attitude has contributed to the incredible player and human being he is today.

Under 18 Boys Manager Mark Culverhouse added: "Connor is a great role model to all young players. After being released by Port Vale, Connor has gone on to be an example that professional clubs don't always get it right, and how perseverance, hard work and talent can take you a long way."

We wish Connor all the best for the rest of the season with Bristol Rovers, and for the future with Stoke City. Congratulations on your award Connor, thoroughly deserved!
