Under 16 Girls vs Worcestershire

On Monday 28th February Staffordshire's Under 16 Girls welcomed Worcestershire to Stafford Town FC. Coaches Mark Wood and Ken Ford provide the following match report:

Straight from the first whistle Staffs played with great determination and showcased some fantastic football. Only 10 minutes in and the hard work paid off with a Ruby Millington strike hitting the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Staffs. Play resumes and Staffs remain on top, dominating the midfield. A fantastic through ball allowed Ruby Jones to connect with the ball and make it 2-0 to Staffs. 10 minutes to play in the first half and Worcestershire are back in the game following Staffs switching off, leaving it 2-1 at half time.

The second half began and Staffs once again switch off and let Worcester back in the game, suddenly the game is level at 2-2 and Worcester are digging deep and piling on the pressure. However, Staffs managed to get a foothold into the game 20 minutes into the second half, with a great pass threaded through the middle of the pitch for Ruby Millington to double her tally and make it 3-2 to Staffs. Worcestershire pressed hard during the closing stages but a fine defensive display allowed Staffs to take the win.

Well done girls, and best of luck to Worcestershire for the remainder of the season.
