Shropshire U14 Boys 1 Staffordshire U14 Boys 1 - Manager Neil Davies provided the following match report:
The two teams played out an entertaining 1-1 draw, which on the balance of play was probably just about a fair result.
Shropshire got off to a flying start, scoring with less than 30 seconds on the clock, breaking quickly after dispossessing Staffs in midfield before their striker finished well. To be fair the Staffs boys kept their heads up and started to play some good football. Despite a few half chances and having more of the play it was still 1-0 to the Home side at the break.
Staffs started the second half well and deservedly equalised when Stan Straw rose to plant a great header into the corner of the net from Man of the Match Oisin Rabbette's excellent free kick. Staffs then dominated the next 15 minutes but couldn't find a second goal and to be fair Shropshire finished strongly and Staffs were grateful to Ethan Novak for an excellent save to keep the scores level.
Lots of positives to be taken from what was the boys first competitive game together. The next game is against South Yorkshire on Monday 18th Oct at Stafford Town. All of the squad are invited to attend.
