Under 16 Girls Win This Girl Kicks Tournament
Last week our Under 16 Girls took part in This Girl Kicks two day tournament. During the group stage the girls were 2-0 victors over Sunderland (Gidman x2), held Warwickshire to a 1-1 draw (Gidman), and then beat Shropshire 3-0 (Milligan, Sharp, Deeley) to secure their place in the final. The final was another fixture against Shropshire, with a tight game finishing 0-0. After a tense penalty shootout Staffordshire Under 16 Girls won on penalties 5-4 to hand them the trophy.
A huge well done to all of the girls for this phenomenal achievement, which included 4 Staffs players named in the team of the tournament (Eva Rose Tankard, Ruby Gidman, Leila Tunstall, and Zuzanna Polomska). Coaches Rob Wakelin and Mark Wood were delighted with the team's peformances over the tournament, and would also like to thank Gary Barrell, This Girl Kicks, and Gloucester City AFC for their organisation and hospitality.
